How It Works

Creating the colour palette for your bespoke art

This piece is all you. We’re here to customize it entirely to your home, your taste, and what will bring you joy. Your children (or grandchildren) will be using the colour palette that we design together, to create the most exquisite artwork for you. SO, before we begin, I really want to get to know you! The space where you envision your artwork going, existing decor, and anything else you love - we will discuss it all.

Sizing it for your space

Figuring out where you’d like your art to live helps in selecting the colour scheme, and ultimately, the sizing we go with. When possible, I will come to your home in advance of the session to take final measurements. We use canvas by the roll, meaning that the dimensions are completely customizable for your space. Intentionally custom sized art creates huge visual impact.

Prepping your canvas for your paint session

The paint session itself is a fun, exploratory experience in playing around with paint and creating memories with family. As such, there’s never pressure to cover every inch of the canvas. I prepare an initial layer so we have layers to build on and not worry about raw canvas showing. I prep your colours to make sure they’re working together the way we envisioned, and bring the session to you.

Paint day

The process will vary so much family to family. Some kids are hesitant to get messy, others want to keep going long after it’s done. It can fulfill a sensory, tactile need: squishing it out of the tube, stepping in it and seeing how the colours can be manipulated.

No matter what, the goal is always to allow the kids to do as much as they’re comfortable.

The end result: a gorgeous painting which instills pride, confidence, and confirmation in your child that THEY made that! (Their footprints embedded in there as proof, will come in handy convincing the neighbours). And of course, it’s yours to cherish and admire for a lifetime.

After your session

The art undergoes several layers of high gloss varnish to keep it protected from dust, UV light, and the test of time. The shiny finish brings out the vibrancy of the colours and makes the whole piece completely gallery worthy!

At this point your art is ready for stretching. It’s my pleasure to facilitate this at no additional cost so you can begin enjoying your art sooner!  Stretching and framing is done by your local framer.
